Naomi M. McPherson is a cultural anthropologist and Associate Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia. She has returned six times between 1980 and 2009 to Bariai, West New Britain, Papua New Guinea where, among other topics, she has studied concepts of gender and gender relations, gendered violence, ethno-obstetrics, and women’s maternal and reproductive health.
